316L electrodes produce a concave bead with smooth ripples and self-releasing slag. It presents an excellent wetting action and fine ripples, which minimize post-weld cleaning. This characteristic is particularly useful in the food and drink industry where a smooth polished surface is required. Higher molybdenum in this product increases the resistance to pitting corrosion caused by corrosive media such as acids, sulfite, and chloride solutions. It is normally used for welding 18% Cr – 12% Ni - 2.5% Mo stainless. Ideal for welding steel Types 316 & 316L.
joining of dissimilar steels. Welding of plated steels. For saltwater and pit type corrosive applications. Welding of CrNiMo stainless steels. Chemical, petrochemical, and food industry applications. Underlayer for stainless steel coatings. Do not use on applications that are continuously submitted to temperatures between 600 and 900°C.
Designed with low carbon levels to help eliminate carbide precipitation in high temperature service
